The Mangere Presbyterian Church is constructed in the late “timber Gothic” style and was built in 1874. It is registered for protection by Manukau City as a Category Two historic building.
The church was originally constructed for $440 on land donated by Mr Robert Wallace. Famous members of the church include Robert Wallace himself, along former New Zealand Prime Minister William Massey (see Massey Homestead). The church was led by the Reverend Middlewood Kirkbride, who lends his name to the road on which the church is situated.
