Researching on a piece for the next book and hoping for a little input from any of our followers that have lived, worked or spent time in this stunning building that may have had an experience they can share.
The George Courts Building, in Auckland city’s Karangahape (K) Road.
The building was completed in 1926 and until 1988 housed the George Court department store, for a long time New Zealand’s largest store.
Following the closure of the store the building was converted and re-opened as an apartment building in 1993.
I know a few people that have had businesses, or lived up there years ago. Some intriguing stories for sure. I have a few reports that were passed on to me from the mid eighties, from friends and acquaintances, but am hoping for a few more viewpoints if possible. – Mark
