Cursed Britain: A History of Witchcraft and Black Magic in Modern Times
Book by Thomas Waters
A big read and possibly a bit out of my league due to its quite academic format and stance. The super small print didn’t help with such a long and intense read either.
I can tell it’s well-researched and there’s a great deal of source references, a bibliography, and an index to check up on.
There’s also a chapter on witchcraft and colonialism, touching on Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand.
As an educational guide for someone like myself with only a limited knowledge of Witchcraft, it’s a hefty effort.
At times, I felt that the writing was very long-winded, and got rather tedious to focus on. Maybe it’s the 28-degree heatwave we’re currently enduring here, not sure. I will admit I skimmed over bits as my attention dwindled.
Those with a good grasp of the subject will enjoy it more I’m sure.
