Whenever I put out a new book, I get people contacting me with new stories and (even better)locations I’d never heard of before. Since the Haunted Auckland book was released in 2023, I’ve had many Auckland-based stories come in. Enough to fill nearly half of a follow-up book, I reckon! (maybe give me a few more years on that one though)
I had a report come in recently that jogged my memory. I had heard other claims from that same location before but never followed up on them due to being vague and without much detail. Mainly it was just brief, ”this happened to me” stories.
A couple of days ago I was reminded of the location with another story. Not one for just doing nothing on my time off, I thought I’d go have a nosey for myself and snap a few photos to document it.
The location in question is the Sulphur Point motorway underpass tunnel at the end of Tennyson Street. This tunnel leads under the busy motorway to the other side and the tunnel entrance sits right beside the North Shore Police Station.
While the previous stories I’d heard were the usual ‘voices and odd feelings’, the recent one intrigued me more. This involved a jogger being pushed by an unseen force and shouted at in the ear at close range, with no one there. The incident was described as ”an invisible person in a hurry, wanting to get past in great urgency”, and ”shouting at me as they did so”.
Interested to hear of any other occurrences while walking in the Sulphur Point motorway underpass tunnel.
