What if time isn’t linear?

Note This is just some of my own thoughts and doesn’t represent the opinions of Haunted Auckland. I’m not a physicist or a mathematician, so someone who is may tell me I’m talking a load of rubbish. However, the concept of time not being linear interests me and I think worth sharing with others to… Continue reading What if time isn’t linear?

Is my House Haunted?

You hear heavy footsteps in the upstairs hallway when you know no one is up there. Doors slam unaccountably. Household items disappear and reappear without cause. You wake to someone whispering in your ear, yet you sleep alone. The bathroom light switches on and off by itself. There’s the unmistakable scent of a strange perfume… Continue reading Is my House Haunted?

EVP – An Alternative Theory

This month we are going to stray a bit from my typical “practical information” articles, and instead, delve into two of my favorite topics: EVP and theoretical physics. Electronic Voice Phenomena – EVP. With the 2005 release of the movie entitled ‘White Noise’ starring Michael Keaton, the general public has increasingly become more interested in… Continue reading EVP – An Alternative Theory

Science and Pseudoscience in Ghost Investigations

There are thousands of amateur ghost hunters around the world whose techniques are modeled after hit cable television shows such as Ghost Hunters, which claim to use good science. But a close examination of typical ghost-hunting methods reveals them to be mostly pseudoscience. Millions of people are interested in ghosts. One 2005 Gallup poll found… Continue reading Science and Pseudoscience in Ghost Investigations

The sounds of ghosts through electronic devices

Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) is the recording of sounds or voices on electronic devices that were not audible to the human ear at the time of recording, and is one of the most fascinating pieces of data in paranormal investigation. EVP clips vary widely in their volume, length, and tone, and many clips are almost… Continue reading The sounds of ghosts through electronic devices

Reflections about UFOlogy

Some of the conclusions offered by editor Charles Bowen in the UFOlogy anthology Encounter Cases from Flying Saucer Review (1977) include the first paragraphs from the final chapter “Beliefs.” We believe that “flying saucers,” or UFOs, do exist: the evidence of sight, radar and sound indicates that either might be metallic, or might give the… Continue reading Reflections about UFOlogy

What are Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP)?

Electronic Voice Phenomena / Audio Voice Phenomena Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) are sounds found on electronic recordings which resemble speech, but are reportedly not the result of intentional recording or rendering. EVP are commonly found in recordings with static, stray radio transmissions, and background noise. Recordings of EVP are often produced by increasing the gain… Continue reading What are Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP)?

Within ghost hunting and parapsychology, electronic voice phenomena (EVP) are sounds found on electronic recordings that are interpreted as spirit voices that have been either unintentionally recorded or intentionally requested and recorded. Parapsychologist Konstantīns Raudive, who popularized the idea in the 1970s, described EVP as typically brief, usually the length of a word or short… Continue reading EVP: Electronic Voice Phenomenon – Wikipedia

Private Residence, Howick

The Haunted Auckland team was called to this family home after many incidents of paranormal activity including fire alarms going off, people being touched, family members’ names being called, shadow figures being seen on walls and ceilings, and sleep disturbances being experienced by every member of the family.

Follow-up Investigation at Spookers

The Haunted Auckland group returned to the Spookers building at Kingseat to look further into incidents which had happened on the previous investigation sessions, looking for explanations and to gather more evidence of the paranormal activity in this former psychiatric hospital.

EVP – Fact or Fiction ?

For as long as I have had an interest in the paranormal I can remember an association with Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP). Even years back when I remember some friends trying out some EVP work with a cassette recorder. They sat there in a circle, with some atmospheric candle light asking out into the semi-darkness.… Continue reading EVP – Fact or Fiction ?
