What are your thoughts on the theory that ghosts are actually inter-dimensional travellers?

transparent_beingsThis is what we spend half our time trying to determine as paranormal investigators. What happens when we die? Is there an afterlife and what form does it take? What exists beyond our known reality? Why do some souls/spirits (which we tend to refer to as ghosts) seem to linger with us on Earth?

Having spent a bit of time reading about the possibility that ghosts could be inter-dimensional beings (or travellers), it does seem like a plausible possibility and the best explanation I’ve come across so far.

The possible existence of different dimensions is generally accepted by science; the theoretical framework of the Superstring Theory posits that the universe exists in ten different dimensions. These different aspects are what govern the universe, the fundamental forces of nature, and all the elementary particles contained within.

Dimensions can be described as different facets of what we perceive to be reality; we are immediately aware of the three dimensions that surround us on a daily basis, i.e. those that define the length, width, and depth of all objects in our universe, however, it’s hard for us to imagine another dimension beyond this. I found some good explanations that helped me understand how other dimensions may work and how ghosts, shadow people or other paranormal phenomena may interact with us as other- dimensional beings.

Here’s a good explanation that I found. Imagine a two dimensional world like a photograph where everything has length and width but no height. If you, in your 3 dimensional world, put your finger on the 2-dimensional photograph, someone in that 2-dimensional world may see something appearing (however only in 2 dimensions width and length) then vanish as you take your finger away.

When it comes to perception, the people in the 2 dimensional world would only see a portion of we perceive looking on that world from our 3 dimensional space. The same could be true for spirits (or other) looking on our world from another dimension and interacting with our 3 dimensional world. This could explain our perception of ghosts as appearing and vanishing or a sheer-see-thru apparition, along with some of the qualities we see that are not quite like us, for example shadow figures people which appear black with no detail.

If we consider the 2-dimensional world as a photograph, that world can’t interact or mess with our world but we can enter theirs and mess with it e.g. burn the photograph, draw on it, bend it etc, so it might be with inter-dimensional beings – they have the ability to affect and enter our world, but we cannot do the same with theirs.
